Artist's Biography
Sharon Crabill was born in Southern California. She moved to Redding in 1988 and is pleased to be part of the growing community of artists
here in Shasta County.
"My interest in art goes back to my early childhood years. I often joke that I started painting because as a child I could never stay in the lines. But it was through
my childhood attraction to color and shape that I have developed a lifelong love of art. The color books soon turned to blank sheets of paper and my life as an
artist began.”
Studying painting and design at Shasta College, enjoying Figure Drawing and 3-D Design at the University of South Alabama, and by participating in various artist's workshops and classes, Sharon Crabill has discovered a world of light and magic through paint.
"As an artist, I strive to create the illusion of a moment in time. A mountain stream, a babbling brook, or an ocean wave capture the effect of light in nature. The rich buttery feel of oils brings a luminous quality to my art. The light sparkles and dances as it splashes and spills over rocks and sand. It is through this inspirational approach in my painting that I hope to inspire and touch others."
"Painting the light is my challenge and passion. My basic life goal is to paint, paint, paint."
ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
"Painting for me is a journey, and with each brush stroke, I feel the urge to just let the painting be what it wants to be. I feel most inspired when a painting takes on its own playful quality of light and dark. It is my euphoric vision of nature and the world around me that I strive to recreate for others to enjoy."
